Customer Snapshot

Who: New sustainable tech startup
What: Selling robotic lawn mowers to domestic and commercial buyers
Where: Cornwall and across the South West of England

The Brief

James came to me as a new startup looking for engaging and approachable copy for his website, blog, social media, and brochure materials that would persuade domestic and commercial buyers in the local area of Cornwall to invest in one of his robotic lawn mowers.

The Challenge

1. Robotic lawn mowers are a relatively new technology, and not yet widely used in the UK, so the key request was to educate readers about the technology, making any jargon easy to understand, while persuading them to take the plunge and invest in these new gadgets.

2. The copy also had to cater to three different target markets – all used to slightly different tones of voice, and for whom the product has different benefits.

The Solution

As there were three separate landing pages for each target consumer I adapted the tone of voice and benefits for each reader, combining the three in a neutral, friendly tone of voice for the rest of the site.

I collaborated with the web designer to create user-friendly ‘How it works’ sections with headings, short paragraphs, and graphics that would guide the reader through the technology and installation process easily.

I highlighted the eco-friendly and money-saving benefits of this style of lawn care.

We created a blog and social media strategy highlighting the benefits of the robots in relation to their superior lawn care abilities and eco-friendly credentials.

The Result

As a result, Director James Bents has been able to start building his client base quickly as enquiries come in regularly through the website via Google and social media posts, and from the brochures handed out in the local area.

What the client said

I used Felicity Turner Copywriting to write the content for my new website, www.cornwalllawnrobotics.co.uk. The attention to detail was astounding, with Fizz picking up on facts about my own products that even I hadn’t discovered yet! Fizz perfectly captured the tone of voice that I was aiming for, really highlighting the key messages that we had agreed on. Fizz made the whole process really easy, from initial brief to final draft. It is lovely to work with someone who is so passionate about what they do and is also naturally talented in their chosen profession. I would highly recommend her services to anyone looking to get the right message out to their audience and will personally be continuing to make use of her skills for ongoing copywriting work for my business.

I’m so excited you’re ready to invest in your copy and make a greater impact in the world!

My speciality is writing words that make people take action. And I LOVE using that superpower to help make the world a better place.

So now you know why I’m here – tell me a bit about you!

A little bit more about me...

I live in London, but grew up in Cornwall. I miss either one when I’m not there.

I love the bars, restaurants, theatres, lights, and noise of London, but also love camping in the middle of nowhere, paddleboarding, surfing, and hiking in the countryside.

I live with my partner, who was also a singer, but is now a chef at a Michelin-starred restaurant and focuses on sustainable cooking. (Lucky me!)

We also have a miniature longhaired dachshund, called Alfie. He is adorable. And expensive. If you’re lucky, you might get to meet him when we chat. If he’s not at the vets, again.

I still sing a little bit professionally on the side, and am a member of the Choir of the Chapels Royal, HM Tower of London. Basically I get to swan around the Tower of London pretending I’m Anne Boleyn. What’s not to love?

I worked as a supermarket delivery driver in the pandemic while I was getting my new business going. So I’m not afraid of hard work. But please don’t ask me to carry any more crates of bottled water to the 33rd floor.

I love eating. (Did I mention how excited I am that my partner’s a chef?)

I love a challenge, so I started training to do triathlons last year, despite not having ever run 5km before then. This helps with the ‘living with a chef’ and ‘loving eating’ thing.
